Learn to Grow From the Farmers
Everyone desires growth in their life. Being in a place that makes them ‘stuck’ is certainly very detrimental, especially for people who crave the achievement of life. But what kind of growth is desired? Is it an easy thing or is it very difficult to achieve? What steps should be explored in order to grow?
Some time ago there was a motivational advice entitled ‘Think like a Farmer’ roaming around on the social network LinkedIn. A philosophy of life that can be obtained from farmers who not only teach to be a leader with a good leadership spirit but also give meaning to human growth.
1. Do not shout at the crops
Do not underestimate yourself. In every step you take, never judge that you are someone who cannot do it. Focus on what you have to do and continue to give positive prompts to yourself.
2. Do not blame the crop for not growing fast enough
Every change requires a progress and every progress will definitely take time. Appreciate every moment in your progress. Oftentimes rushing is not good, so it is okay to walk slowly.
3. Do not uproot crops before they have had a chance to grow
Before reaching the final result, you will definitely go through several stages of achievement. Be patient and keep going. You do not need to be satisfied quickly because in truth we are human beings who must continue to learn.
4. Choose the best plants for the soil
To grow into the best version of yourself, you must also provide the best ingredients. Eating healthy food, exercising, always thinking optimistically and positively, all of these will definitely lead you to growth in a good direction.
5. Irrigate and fertilise
When you have established good foundational things to start your journey of growing, do not forget to apply them consistently. Keep ‘watering’ yourself with good and positive things.
6. Remove weeds
Good things do not only come from the inside, but also from the outside. Being in a positive environment that supports your growth is a gift. On the other hand, you must also try to avoid toxic environments that have the opportunity to hinder your steps to grow.
7. Remember you will have good seasons and bad seasons — you cannot control the weather only be prepared for it
There is no one hundred percent smooth journey in life. There will always be the goods and bads. You can control some, but not all of it. For things beyond your control, just be prepared to anticipate. So whatever challenges come your way, you are ready to go through them.
It took a long time and challenges that hit every rice planted before it could finally be harvested. Likewise with the process of growing in yourself. So be like farmers who are always disciplined and consistent in seeking the growth of their crops. The time will come, when you reap what you sow.
