Finding Self-Love through Food
In this current busy life, we frequently forget to love ourselves. Then, once we realize, we immediately try to fulfil our desires in the form of self-reward. One thing that is always used as an object is food. Either it is buying our favourite food, eating as much as we want, or tasting some menus in the newly opened restaurant. This sounds very common, but is this the correct way of rewarding ourselves through food? Why do some people experience strange effects after doing it? Such as: indigestion, weight gain, hypertension, or other health problems. Isn’t this self-reward?
Food is described as a substance consisting essentially of protein, carbohydrate, fat, and other nutrients used in the body of an organism to sustain growth and vital processes and to furnish energy (Britannica). The role of food which enters our body is very important in carrying out all the internal processes of life. Therefore, it is our duty to respect our body by providing a proper food.

There are several ways we can do to love ourselves through food. It can be started by choosing the food that can fulfil all the nutritional needs. As mentioned before, protein, carbohydrate, and fat are the main components to be aware of when choosing food. We must pay attention to the balance. We mostly make mistakes for instance like consuming too much carbohydrate and forgetting the importance of protein. This is exactly a wrong thing that if we continue to ignore, it will lead to health problems which can attack our body.
Another important thing that we must pay attention to is providing the body with a variety of fresh and clean food. Fulfilling nutritional needs must also be accompanied by a clean food condition. It is okay to buy food outside as long as we can make sure that the restaurant cares about the cleanliness of the place and the food. We understand that many diseases arise from consuming the unclean food. So, don’t let the self-reward that we give to the body will actually make it suffer.

Just like a colourful life, let’s fill the body with a variety of natural colours in food. We must not waste the benefits that exist in fruits and vegetables. Apart from the three main components, our body also need various vitamins and minerals, and all of them can be found in many fruits and vegetables, or can also be obtained from beans. It’s not that much but its presence in the body is very important. Although in the small amount, vitamins and minerals have many roles in our body. They help to convert food into energy, boost the immune system, help the wound healing process, repair cellular damage, and many other important benefits.
Consuming the right food is an important thing that we must always pay attention to. We know that health is so valuable and that is why we must take care of it by providing our body with a variety of healthy food. This is a form of self-love that we must do. Our body is smart enough in carrying out their duties, so we should support it by always providing all the nutrients that make them work properly.
